Local students from Bridgeton High School and Cumberland Regional spoke at the regular Wednesday morning Rotary meeting about their experiences at the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) conference. These students were chosen for this award for their character and leadership abilities by local Rotary members. The conference is an annual event sponsored by Rotary and held at Stockton College. The students particularly remembered the ice breakers, the talent show, the amazing speakers, Olympic night, skits, and the friendships that they made that they hope will continue for life. Here are some of the comments from the students: “Most amazing experience.” “ It was wonderful to meet other students with the same passion to make a positive difference in the world.” “It took me out of my comfort zone.” “It was an inspiration to do more with my life.” “I learned about ‘Service above Self’ – the Rotary motto.” “It really made me think about the goals for my life.” “Tremendous speakers!” |
